Recognizing Prior Learning in Rural Spaces

Canadian Association of Prior Learning Assessment – Conference 2025

May 26-28, 2025 - St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS

CAPLA’s first in-person event since 2019 includes presentations, workshops, and networking on RPL policy and practice. The theme focuses on sustainable employment in rural areas.

While CAPLA has been busy keeping the conversation vibrant around RPL policy, practice and theory through our on-line offerings of webinars and the community of learning since our last in-person event in 2019, we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back together for two and a half days of presentations, workshops and professional networking opportunities.

We’ve chosen the theme of RPL in Rural Spaces because there is a special urgency in rural spaces to find pathways to sustainability, and employment is at the heart of these. Our three conference streams reflect a life-long continuum of RPL practice…no matter what area you’re working in, you’ll find lots to interest you! Streams covered:

  • Career development/employment services

  • Immigration and resettlement services

  • Post-secondary contexts
